► ESTABLISHING SKILLSETS
The fine arts, technical drawing, realism, and painting built the framework of Ashley’s formative years. She was recognized at an early age for her creativity, skills, and natural intuition of visual communication in design. Ashley graduated summa cum laude from Missouri Western State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design. Typography influenced her style in college, and printmaking, paper-making, books, and type abstraction formed her postgraduate experience as she also studied Printmaking at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Immediately following undergraduate school, Ashley’s mature portfolio and concepts, versatile skill-set, and ability to adapt in a fast-pace environment swept her off the job market in an instant as she joined the Minnow Project team (now Aradius Group).
► EARLY PROFESSIONAL CAREER
Technological insight, learning opportunities and stimuli at work, personal goals, the explosion of social media, and a turbulent economy convinced her to learn useful skills in the interactive-web department. Ashley’s aptitude, diligence to learn, and ability to fill the dynamic role as a designer and web developer has made her an invaluable and rewarding asset. She has openly embraced the flexibility of WordPress to design and build fully customized and optimized websites for over seven years.
► THE STUDENT BECOMES THE SENSEI
Ashley is a well-oiled machine when it comes to HTML, CSS, and jQuery. In 2013, MWSU asked to have her back, this time, to teach Interactive Design II. Three thousand miles (Lincoln <—> St. Joseph), 15 late nights of driving, and a few gallons of coffee later, it was a rewarding experience to chalk up in the book.
► AWARD-WINNING PERFORMANCE
In 2011 and 2012, Ashley won back-to-back Outstanding Website Awards for both Bone Creek Museum of Agrarian Art (bonecreek.org) and Butler County Tourism (tourbutlercounty.com). She swept the field in various MPMA Design Competitions for newsletter, membership brochure, and other print collateral and has been honored throughout her academic and athletic career. In 2016, Intensity Nutrition’s packaging rebrand was recognized in Germany’s PAGE Magazine for iconography. As fun and rewarding as it is to win awards, Ashley’s focus is on research, continual learning, self-improvement, helping clients achieve their goals, and designing for a better world.
Collaborating with people who don’t just show up to the office – they live, breathe, and love what they do – is a privilege. At the end of the day, you get to do meaningful work for clients who are making a difference in the world.
