Ashley N Cameron

Hello! I’m Ashley—designer, educator, and owner of Ashley Cameron Design. I’m glad you’re here and appreciate your interest in my work.

Creativity and problem‑solving shape every part of my life and career. I’m inspired by nature and beauty, driven by curiosity, and motivated by the challenge of simplifying complex problems into practical, meaningful solutions. My passion for learning has carried me from art and design into technology and into exploring cultures, cuisines, and an active lifestyle—gardening, woodworking, and travel. I’m always exploring and evolving. Work and play  often blend together for me because it’s all part of my life; I call it the “art of living.”

Professional Foundation

After graduating summa cum laude with a BFA in Graphic Design in 2009, I began my professional foundation at the Minnow Project, a small advertising agency in Lincoln, NE. In seven formative years, I refined my design practice, learned the creative process, and developed the ability to communicate ideas clearly to account managers and clients. In 2010, I took on the challenge of learning web development—a skill that transformed our team’s capabilities and ultimately gave me the experience to establish my own business. I’m grateful for that opportunity and for putting in the effort at a key point in my life.

Ashley Cameron Design

Since 2016, I’ve operated out of my home studio in West Des Moines, Iowa, offering an array of professional services, primarily graphic design and website development. It’s a welcoming space where clients become partners and friends,  sharing their expertise so I can craft beautiful, smart, and memorable brands and designs that communicate clearly to their audiences.

Visiting Professor

In addition to running my business, I am dedicated to my role as a Visiting Professor of Graphic Design at Missouri Western State University, my alma mater. I teach Graphic Design I–IV and Design Software Applications. Previously, I taught Interactive Design and Advanced Photoshop as an adjunct. Teaching allows me to share the creative process with emerging designers, stay connected to the community, and continually research and stay aware of the evolving industry.

Family Life

My husband, Ryan, is an architect at CMBA Architects here in Des Moines. We have two sons–one in elementary school and one in middle school–who keep life lively and inspire me to stay curious, ask questions, and model hard work while remembering to enjoy the journey. I’m grateful for the flexibility to work from home and be present for my family, and I work hard to make it possible.

Other Interests

I love being active and competitive, whether it’s sports (softball, cycling, billiards, ping pong, pickleball, etc) or learning new skills such as web development, 3D modeling, hydroponics & gardening, woodworking, and soldering LED lights. Documenting these experiences to find the essence in the learning reflects my curiosity and love of teaching. Since 2011, I’ve been sharing tutorials and projects on my YouTube channel, which has grown to more than 500 videos and 36K subscribers.
