Big River Connectivity / BeWildReWild
History
BeWildReWild is a loosely-knit group of volunteers with a passion for wildness. Reconnect-Restore-Rewild is their mantra. BeWildReWild is a special fund for the purpose of exploring three questions:
- What do you/we mean by wild?
- What changes are needed for us to live within the bounds of sustainability?
- How can we create a wilder, more beautiful, more biologically diverse, and a more enduring Mississippi River Watershed?
The Community Art Gathering grants from the BeWildReWild Fund have supported a diverse group of independent artists, videographers, radio personnel, storytellers, workshops, computerized mapping, animation, and more.
Design Inspiration
The logo design is colorful and has a natural watercolor texture and artistic quality, refraining from becoming too busy by keeping the tree silhouettes flat behind a legible serif display font. The website imagery is inspired by a range of rich photography of the Mississippi watershed, landscapes, nature, and wild animals, and paper textures and digitally created illustrations. The large serif headings and body fonts with drop caps are traditional and appropriate for reading and storytelling while smaller headings in uppercase Eyechart font are legible and modern with a hint of nostalgia.
