History

For over 120 years, the Noyes Home has been a place where a child who is facing a family crisis feels safe, and can just be a child, until his or her family is able to get back on its feet. The Noyes Home is a place where a family facing eviction or the loss of employment can talk about their next steps with professionals while their children are cared for with kindness and compassion — for a few days, or a couple of weeks, while they find a solution. Noyes Home offers that safe and nurturing home-away-from-home.

Design Inspiration

Ashley met Chelsea, now the director of Noyes Home, while interning at the Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art in St. Joseph, MO in ~2008 and started working with Noyes Home in 2016. The organization needed supporting graphics, so Ashley illustrated the home in both linear and full-color artwork. In May 2019, they decided they liked the line art so much that they wanted to use it as their logo. The main audience for Noyes Home is major donors who support the home and its mission and event t-shirts and posters for the children and community. Many of the print pieces sent out are for events, such as their Annual Block Party, requests for giving, and fundraising events, such as the annual Take A Seat silent auction with live entertainment and dinner.

5th Annual Block Party Poster

This project was an opportunity to have fun with typography and design a playful yet organized piece of artwork. The uncolored design could also serve as a coloring page for kids. With the immense amount of detail in the illustration, I thought a 1-color t-shirt design would be versatile and appropriate for kids and adults alike.

Donor Wall Murals

Ashley worked with Noyes Home and the Yellow Frog Graphics team on printing and installing these murals. Yellow Frog Graphics measured and provided a template for the artwork. They were professional and great to work with, making the project go quickly and smoothly. The space is looking so much more vibrant and inviting for the kids. The stars are added for each donor.
