Testimonial
Ashley is literally the best designer in the world! She first built our iL Lazzarone website in 2015. We trusted her creative and design expertise and couldn’t be happier with the personal and custom design, which compliments our atmosphere perfectly. She has redesigned our menus and branded our newest restaurant endeavor, Komatsu Ramen. We are so pleased with the professional quality of work and how quickly she responds. She puts up with my insane requests while far exceeding my expectations. The new Ostrea logo is another home run!

History
Chef Erik Borger is inspired by culture and history. His pursuit is to preserve the authenticity of ramen and serve an array of other Japanese dishes. Komatsu (小松) means small (小 ko) pine tree (松 matsu); therefore, inspiring the life of the building construction from 26,000 pounds of fresh, beautiful radiata pine. The interior is a contemporary and minimalist design with 21 private booths.
Komatsu Ramen is a Tokyo-style ramen shop in the Westport neighborhood of Kansas City with fresh made noodles, authentic Japanese broths and delicious sides! Open until 1:30am weekdays and 3am Friday and Saturday.
Design Inspiration
Komatsu Ramen hired Ashley to design an identity, business cards, menu, t-shirts, signage, and the website featuring their tasteful, vibrant dishes. The logo design reflects a small pine tree, natural wood grain texture, and a dashing wet circular paintbrush stroke which pays homage to Japanese Sumi ink art and calligraphy. The texture and detail in the logo paired with a modern, thin, sans-serif font embody the high-quality ingredients found in these simple dishes with great depth of flavor. The chef-quality cuisine is, in fact, a work of art. The website serves a balance of white space, thin lines, and Japanese calligraphy, with colorful, appetizing photography.
